In 1977, following a call from God and a prayerful vision, a group of obedient families ignited a small Jesus community near the shores of Lake Michigan that would become Shelby Road Baptist Church. Since then, God has shaped us into a thriving church family that loves God, loves people, and makes disciples.
We are grateful for what God has done in the past, but we are excited about what God will do in the future. We believe that the church is God's primary tool to reach the world, and we will passionately pursue God's call on our community here in Oceana county. We would love to have you join us on the journey.
We believe the Bible is God's Word without error
We believe God created this world in six days and that He created us in His image. This means we can have a relationship with God
We believe that man chose to sin and now all of us are separated from God because of our sin
We believe that God sent Jesus Christ into our world to bring us back to God
We believe Jesus was crucified for our sins and rose again the third day
We believe Salvation is by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone. We can be saved if we turn from our sin and ask God to forgive us and follow Jesus Christ as Lord
We believe everyone who is saved will desire to follow God's commands and participate in a local church
We believe that Jesus is coming again and that He could come at any time

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
From the moment you arrive to when you drive away, we hope you find us a warm and welcoming place where you can connect with God and this community. You can expect coffee and a warm greeting in front of the auditorium doors. Please let us know if you need any assistance! Each service lasts about 70 minutes where we sing songs and listen to a message from our pastor.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Come dressed comfortably. Some people wear jeans and a t-shirt. Others wear dresses and suits. We are more concerned that people come and feel welcome than if you look your "Sunday Best".
WHAT STYLE OF WORSHIP MUSIC CAN I EXPECT?
We will have contemporary music with some hymns that help us worship and praise God. Song lyrics are on the screen with a live worship band.
WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE FOR A SERVICE?
We recommend that you arrive at least 10-15 minutes before a service starts so that you have time to get a drink (coffee, tea, or water) and find your seat before the service begins.
DO I HAVE TO GIVE MONEY WHEN I VISIT?
You are never obligated to give. If you are new to Shelby Road, please enjoy the music and don't worry about giving unless you would like to. We hope that as people get involved with our church, they are led to be generous in regular giving.
WHO CAN HELP ME ANSWER MY QUESTIONS AT CHURCH?
We have many people ready to help. Stop by our Welcome Center before or after church where a friendly volunteer or ministry leader can answer your questions or help you find your way.
Shelby Road Family,
We have been meeting together in person for a couple of months now, and by God's grace, it has gone very well. During that time, however, many of you have understandably stayed away and tuned in online for safety reasons. After hearing from a number of online-only members of our church family, we have decided to make a change.
Beginning Sunday, August 16th, we will have a mask-only section in the south portion of our auditorium. We know that some of you already sit in this section. Because we exist in part to love people well, we're asking you to make a small sacrifice to show hospitality to as many as possible: choose a seat in a different section, or wear a mask.
Now, you may have a few questions about this, like:
I WEAR A MASK ON SUNDAYS ALREADY, DO I HAVE TO SIT IN THAT SECTION?
No. If you wear a mask, feel free to sit wherever you'd like. We just ask that if you choose to sit in this section, that you make sure you're wearing a mask.
WHAT IF I FORGOT MY MASK BUT I INTENDED TO SIT IN THAT SECTION? DO I HAVE TO LEAVE?
Nope. We have plenty of masks available for you.
I WOULD LIKE TO USE THE "MASK-ONLY ENTRANCE. HOW DO I FIND IT?
If you plan to sit in the mask-only section and would like to be as isolated as possible, we have an entrance secured for you. Simply park in the upper parking lot and use the door marked "mask only entrance" and follow the signs to your section.
DO I HAVE TO PARK IN THE UPPER LOT TO SIT IN THIS SECTION?
No. You can use whatever entrance you'd like to use. Our only requirement is that you have your mask on when you enter that area of the auditorium.
WHAT IF I SEE A FRIEND IN THAT SECTION I HAVEN'T SEEN IN MONTHS? DO I HAVE TO SHOUT AT THEM FROM ACROSS THE ROOM?
Nope. We have plenty of masks available, so you can put one on and go say hi. Again, if you're in that area of the auditorium, please wear a mask.
WHAT EXACTLY WILL THIS LOOK LIKE?
Glad you asked. Follow this link to a video that will give you a sneak peek: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WyvfCoaixQ
IS THIS GOING TO BE WEIRD?
It will be different, but not weird. As a church, we want to welcome everyone. This is a simple way to do just that.
